What parents and students are saying:

“My daughter learned so much in a short time. I recommend this class to students who want to feel more confident about test taking and getting a good score on the SAT.”

“Thank you so much for all your help in not only
reaching my goal, but surpassing it by more than 100 points!”

12th Grade

“This class is a fun way to prepare for the stressful SAT
test in a relaxed atmosphere. I feel so much more confident. The way Mrs. Nelson teaches makes it easy for me to understand.”

10th Grader

“Thank you for your help. You sure did connect with Matt!”

Nancy Nelson grew up in Longview, Texas, where she was the editor of her high school newspaper and the recipient of the DAR Good Citizen award. She graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and went on to complete her Texas secondary teaching certificate at the University of North Texas.

For 10 years, Nancy homeschooled her two sons, from 4th grade through high school. Her oldest son scored a 1540 out of 1600 on the SAT, and her youngest son scored a 1510. Both received full-ride scholarships from the college of their choice.

Nancy is a widow, after 35 years of marriage. She has a daughter, three sons and two grandchildren whom she adores. She loves to travel and has been to Mexico, Canada, England, Spain, Egypt (where she climbed on a pyramid) and Peru (where she climbed Machu Pichu). She teaches a Precepts Bible Study and sings in the choir at her church. She enjoys reading, knitting, scrapbooking and playing games with her family.

An evaluation will get a student started on the right foot. We will look at report cards, essays written and at any standardized, PSAT, SAT and ACT scores. We will visit with the student and parents about personal goals, career goals, and potential college choices, and we will discuss budget issues. Then we will determine the most beneficial one-on-one SAT tutoring program to meet the student’s needs and fit into their schedule.

Programs include test taking skills, vocabulary study, reading comprehension improvement, math review, and essay writing samples. Actual practice on full-length SAT tests helps reduce anxiety and increases confidence. Programs focus on the specific weaknesses of each student, areas that schools just don’t have time to work on.

Tutoring can be done in the student’s home or in Nancy’s home. A $20 transportation fee will be added to the cost of any session done at the student’s home to cover time and auto expenses.
