Why Choose Me?
Updated: Feb 22, 2018
I have wanted to be a teacher since I was a little girl. My dolls were my first students, then my little sister took on the role of student. In high school I was a member of the Future Teachers of America, and in college I did everything necessary to be a certified teacher except student teaching. I got my teacher certification as an adult and am certified to teach English and Social Studies in junior high and senior high schools. It meant the world to me to know that I could be a classroom teacher.
After some classroom experience, I had the opportunity to homeschool my two sons. One started in the 8th grade and one in the 4th and we went all the way through the 12th grade. It was like playing teacher all over again, but I knew this was for real. I loved those 10 years of homeschooling, spending time with my sons and getting to know them well.
When that phase of my life ended, I began to tutor students for the SAT. This is a way to have a real impact on a student’s future. I believe all of my life’s experiences have combined to suit me to do this kind of work, and I love the challenge of meeting each student’s specific needs and seeing them be successful. I look forward to helping more students achieve their goals for the SAT and their college experience.
